NEW — Aug. 24, 2026: Rapper Blueface was briefly handcuffed outside a Santa Clarita restaurant Sunday night after Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded to an emergency call that authorities ultimately treated as an apparent swatting incident.
TMZ, citing law-enforcement sources, reports that deputies detained several people while they checked a call alleging severe violence. Everyone was released after deputies determined that no crime had occurred. Blueface was not arrested.
The video looked dramatic; the outcome was not an arrest
Social-media video from the scene shows Blueface walking backward toward deputies with his hands raised before kneeling and being placed in handcuffs. The footage also shows multiple patrol vehicles and officers outside the restaurant.
That visible police response can look like the end of a crime documentary when it is clipped out of context. The useful fact is what happened next: deputies investigated, found no crime and released the people they had detained.
A local Santa Clarita account placed the response at about 5:27 p.m. Pacific time Sunday. TMZ published its account Monday morning after receiving information from law-enforcement sources.
What “swatting” means here
Swatting is the use of a false emergency report to provoke a heavily armed police response at a particular location. In this case, the available reporting describes the call as apparent swatting; no suspect or motive for making the call has been publicly identified.
Blueface, whose legal name is Johnathan Porter, has not publicly commented on the incident. TMZ said it reached out to him but had not received a response by publication time.
This article does not treat the emergency allegation as true. The confirmed outcome is the opposite: after responding and detaining people as a precaution, deputies found no crime and made no arrest.
