If your engagement began with an unauthorized climb up the Empire State Building, apparently ordinary courtroom accessories will not do.
Daredevil couple Angela Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court wearing matching black outfits and faux handcuff bracelets, according to reports published this week. They are facing charges connected to their July climb up the landmark’s broadcast antenna, where Kuznetsov proposed.
Authorities have accused the pair of offenses including burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and trespass. Those are allegations, and the couple has not been convicted. Prosecutors and defense attorneys are reportedly discussing a possible plea resolution.
The pair, featured in the Netflix documentary Skywalkers: A Love Story, also posed and kissed for cameras outside court. Their next court date is scheduled for September 29, giving the world several weeks to wonder whether the next accessory will be a tiny gavel necklace.
