A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian one euro in damages for the 2016 armed robbery that left her bound and held at gunpoint while thieves stole more than $6 million in jewelry. Before anyone starts calculating the exchange rate, the tiny award was what Kardashian requested: a symbolic statement that the case was about accountability, not collecting another check.
The trauma outlasted the headlines
Kardashian and stylist Simone Harouche each asked for and received one euro. A hotel receptionist who reported lasting trauma received more than 109,000 euros, and the hotel was awarded 50,000 euros.
The robbery occurred during Paris Fashion Week when men dressed as police entered the Hôtel de Pourtalès. Defendants in the case were convicted in 2021. Several were older men whom French media nicknamed the “grandpa robbers,” a phrase considerably cuter than tying up a woman and pointing a gun at her deserves.
Symbolic damages can carry a real message
Associated Press reported the judgment on September 16, 2026. Kardashian said the experience changed her and strengthened her commitment to justice and healing.
Celebrity coverage often turns trauma into a costume change between red carpets. The one-euro request resists that framing. It says the loss cannot be reduced to jewelry or net worth, and that a court's recognition matters even when the financial award could disappear between two sofa cushions.
