Taylor Swift has donated $50,000 to a fundraiser supporting Ashley Taunton, a Connecticut mother of three seriously injured while helping teenagers after a crash.
Taunton, 42, stopped during heavy rain after seeing a vehicle hydroplane in Rhode Island. While assisting the teenagers, another vehicle lost control. Taunton pushed one teen away before being struck herself.
She suffered life-threatening injuries including broken ribs, internal bleeding and a ruptured diaphragm. Swift’s donation included a message wishing Taunton the best possible recovery and sending love to her family.
The fundraiser had already drawn broad support after Taunton’s act of courage became public. Her family says recovery will be long and costly.
