The View has invited outgoing White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt to appear at the table following her departure from the Trump administration.
The invitation came after Leavitt announced August 27 that she was ending her nearly 20-month tenure as press secretary. At 29, she had been the youngest person to hold the job.
People reports that Leavitt is leaving the White House to focus on her family and move into a role with MAGA Inc. The daytime program’s invitation is for a guest appearance—not a guest-host or permanent cohost position.
The offer lands amid a public fight involving ABC parent Disney and the Federal Communications Commission over whether The View should retain its classification as a “bona fide news program” for purposes of federal equal-time rules.
That makes the invitation more than an ordinary booking pitch. Leavitt spent her White House tenure sparring with journalists and defending the administration’s message; a live visit to a panel famous for political arguments would be television engineered for friction.
Whether she accepts has not been announced. For now, the invitation puts the next move in Leavitt’s hands and gives The View a tidy answer to critics who say its political conversations lack ideological range.
