Several thousand people marched in Washington on Saturday for an event billed as “March on Washington 2026: Defend the Vote.”

Union members, students, civil-rights groups and Black Greek-letter organizations gathered on the National Mall as speakers warned about voting restrictions and erosion of federal protections.

The demonstration evoked the historic 1963 March on Washington while focusing on current election rules, ballot access and civil liberties ahead of the November midterms.

Organizers framed the march as a broad coalition effort rather than a single-party rally. The event remained peaceful.
