The husband of slain New Jersey psychotherapist Brooke Hanlon has spoken publicly for the first time, nearly three months after he found her fatally stabbed inside their Chester Township home.

James “Conor” Hanlon told the Daily Mail that he was heartbroken and denied unsubstantiated online rumors alleging that he was involved. That denial is consistent with the public record: the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has never named him—or anyone else—as a suspect or person of interest.

What authorities have established

First responders found Brooke Hanlon, 35, in the family’s home on June 6. The Morris County Medical Examiner determined that she died from multiple sharp-force injuries and ruled the death a homicide.

Conor Hanlon made the 911 call after discovering his wife and performed CPR under a dispatcher’s direction. No arrests have been announced. Investigators have released few details while continuing to seek information from the public.

A family grieving under an internet microscope

Brooke was a licensed psychotherapist and the mother of a baby daughter who recently turned one. She and Conor married in 2021 and moved from Boston to Chester, close to Brooke’s childhood home.

Silence in an unsolved case routinely becomes a vacuum that social media fills with guesswork. Here, officials have provided no evidence supporting accusations against her husband. Responsible coverage has to leave the line exactly where investigators left it.
