Federal prosecutors say a man who posed as a San Francisco 49ers player helped defraud more than two dozen women of approximately $1.3 million.
Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, are charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. Investigators allege Love met women through dating apps and presented himself as an NFL player or wealthy real-estate investor.
Chan allegedly posed as Love’s financial adviser and helped promote fictitious investments with promises of large returns. Prosecutors say some victims were encouraged to take out personal loans and none recovered their money.
The men were arrested at Boise Airport. The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
