A Connecticut man faces a reckless-endangerment charge after police say he accidentally left a backpack containing a loaded firearm at the Newtown General Store.
A customer found the bag June 24 and alerted store staff, prompting an investigation that identified 59-year-old Ronald Anthony Frate Jr. as its owner.
Police said Frate later surrendered on a warrant. He was released on a written promise to appear in Superior Court in Danbury next month.
The charge is an allegation. Frate is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
