Louisville police say no arrests have been made after a teenage Valley High School student was shot near a Jefferson County Public Schools bus stop Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened around 8 a.m. in the 1800 block of Beech Street. The girl was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and Louisville Metro Police said Thursday that the investigation remained active and was progressing.

Police, JCPS staff and volunteers from Men Against Gun Violence returned to the area to provide additional security and reassurance for students and families. Community members also placed stuffed animals and candles near where the injured student reportedly collapsed.

Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or announced a detention. Anyone with information can contact Louisville Metro Police through its anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD.
