Developing — October 31, 2026. Casualty figures are preliminary police accounts. The suspect’s identity, motive and sequence of events have not been established in the reporting reviewed here.

One person was killed and six others were wounded in a shooting at a Spirit Halloween store inside Solano Town Center in Fairfield, California, late Friday, according to police accounts carried by the Associated Press and ABC News. The incident happened October 30; this report is dated the following morning, October 31.

ABC reported that officers responded around 8:30 p.m. Friday and found seven people with gunshot wounds. Six survivors were taken to hospitals, with at least three reported in critical condition. Those figures describe the early police account, not an independently audited hospital census or a guarantee that conditions will remain unchanged.

Investigators were still identifying who was responsible

AP reported that the department’s statement, posted around midnight, described an active scene and detectives interviewing witnesses to identify a suspect. Bay City News’ local account also reported that Chief Dan Marshall said the investigation remained active. DJF has not obtained the underlying police statement directly; the department’s website was inaccessible during this check.

The available accounts do not establish a perpetrator, a motive or a complete sequence of the gunfire. They do not support claims about the victims’ relationship to the shooter. There is no basis here to supply those missing details from social-media speculation or from the location of the attack.

The event date matters

Friday night’s shooting occurred on the eve of Halloween. A Saturday headline can make the incident sound as if it happened during daytime holiday activities; that is not the timeline reported by ABC or the local account. The event and the morning reporting should remain separate dates.

ABC’s initial report said the victims’ identities had not been released. DJF is not naming people based on unverified posts or circulating photographs. Police identification of a person, an account of their condition and a description of their involvement would each require their own verification.

What a further update needs

The next substantive developments would include confirmed changes in casualty information, an identified suspect or an official account explaining what investigators believe occurred. An early absence of those details should remain visible rather than being filled with a theory. We will keep this story on the same URL as reliable information develops.
